Before tractors, horses were used for transportation and logistics.
The introduction of tractors in the Swedish military marked a modernization and increased efficiency in transportation, logistics, and weaponry. 

This tractor was manufactured in 1974 by Volvo BM. It runs on diesel and has a four-cylinder engine with 76 horsepower. It has 8 forward gears and 2 reverse gears (or with a quick shift – 16 forward gears and 4 reverse gears). It is a useful vehicle equipped with a front winch. The fuel consumption is 4-6 liters per 10 kilometers.

Tractors were used not only for transporting soldiers, equipment, and artillery. Various types of trailers could be attached behind the tractor for the transport of ammunition, fuel, or food.

If necessary, cannon trailers could be hitched behind the tractor trailer. Bicycle-mounted soldiers could also pull along behind the trailers, using a rope equipped with a hand strap for each cyclist. A warning signalist was positioned on the trailer, using a signal spade to warn for sharp turns and to reduce speed.
As you can imagine, this could create an impressive convoy along the roads!
 
To improve mobility with tractors and heavy loads, trailers with drive were introduced. The trailer is connected to the tractor's power take-off, and through a gearbox/propeller shaft at the front of the trailer, power is transmitted to the trailer's wheels. This made the vehicle all-wheel drive and significantly improved its ability to navigate difficult terrain!
