About us

The Kalix Line Preparedness Museum is operated by a nonprofit foundation aimed at preserving military historical interests related to the Kalix Line.
The museum began to be established in the late 1990s, when the Cold War was over and the Kalix Line was being dismantled.

Here, we have gathered buildings, vehicles, and equipment that were used during the active period of the Kalix Line. We even have a small local variety show stage, which was set up in almost every town during the years of preparedness!

We want to be an experiential museum, and it is encouraged to explore the vehicles and equipment. Of course, do so responsibly. Do not release any brakes, and climb carefully to avoid injury.

One of the barracks is dedicated to an exhibition about the Cold War, featuring information, equipment, newspaper clippings, and literature. Most of the reading material is in swedish, and we are working on translating them to english, so that our foreign guests can enjoy them aswell.

As the operation has recently been taken over by a new owner, an inventory of the museum's exhibition items is currently underway so that we can present them even better to our visitors.
